Hiring Religious School Director
Location: Lowell, MA 01852
Temple Emanuel of the Merrimack Valley (TEMV, is a small, diverse, welcoming Reform congregation with a strong commitment to social action and all aspects of tikkun olam that recently won the 2019 Belin Award for “Audacious Hospitality” for our LGBTQ “Uninitiative”.
Our one-day-per-week religious school of approximately a dozen students meets in our contemporary downtown Lowell space, not far from UMass Lowell, on Sundays from 10:00am to 12:00pm, although we are of course remote for the foreseeable future. Our program includes both traditional classroom learning and informal and family education opportunities. We utilize a modified “one-room-schoolhouse” model for our small school community (10 students, grades 2 through 7), and our curriculum includes Hebrew reading and prayers, and Judaica such as Torah, mitzvot, ethics, holidays, tefilah, spirituality, and history.
We are currently seeking a warm, flexible, and engaging educator to direct our program and serve as engagement professional for families with children of all ages. The ideal candidate will have experience in the classroom and also guiding other teachers and aides, developing curricular goals, and creating and leading family education modules.
